I’m on the road in Portland. I spent the weekend judging regional Student Academy Award submissions and on Wednesday I’ll be hosting a screening of JUMP Society films at the Whitsell Auditorium as part of the Northwest Film Center’s NW Tracking program.

I’ll have a new comic up later in the day but here are some sketchbook scans until then, a few are from this trip and a few are from before I left.

A girl on the airplane and the view from the window.

Hammer time.

A kitchen. I don’t remember where.

Beer battered Halibut notes.

This was a drawing of my friend Katie but it came out all frumpy and lumpy so I added a bunch of cats and turned her into a spinster.

A dude on the Bus in Portland.

This is Cayleigh in the comfy chair buried under the Karnik comforter. Her head was just peeking out the top.

This last sketch is a character design, it’s the reason for all the others. Will here is part of a story I’ve been wanting to tell for a long time. He’s an adventurer and once I get better at drawing I’ll tell his story.
